Carmakaze
Carmakaze was my Capstone project for the end of my Game Design degree and wasn't my original game. I was previously working with a different group on a top-down shooter, but after two months, I was the only one left in the group so I was put in a new group working on Carmakaze. It was difficult to leave the game I knew behind and start working on a project that was well into development with a new team. I took a week or two to learn everything I could about what the team's goals were and how the game worked coding-wise. Because of this, I feel I was able to make meaningful contributions, such as adding a speedometer with working fire effects when the player boosts, a car radio, and the repair garage to heal the player's vehicle. Despite the difficulties I faced as a new member on a team and coming into the project in the middle of development, I feel I learned a great deal about how to adapt, give feedback, and work as a team without slowing development down. Overall I am very pleased with how the game turned out as well and seeing the finished project gives me motivation to continue developing games.
